That Thing in the Lake The only time she had alone to herself was at night when he was off getting drunk. She would go down to the Lake and cry for her Mother, sobbing and wishing things were back, like they used to be,she could see her Mom's smiling face when she woke every morning,to pancakes and sausage, then she helped her Mom all day and they laughed, they laughed a lot,but she would soon remember where she was and why.......... The whole time she sobbed, something in the lake stirred, she never saw it,but it was there, listening to her hanging on her every thought and every tear, and it was getting angrier by the second, and not at her,but at her mean evil step-father. The little girl fell to sleep crying, when the sun rose her step-father awoke, where was the girl? This made him very angry,he couldn't find her,he stomped off to look for her.Soon he saw a shadowy figure down by the lake,There she is he thought now I shall punish her badly. As he walked down to slap her,the Lake waters started churning, gurgling, rising up closer and closer, grabbing the girls step-father it quickly took him under, allowing one last scream to be heard, the girl woke just in time to see the horrible sight. Soon, she heard a large Burp, yes the Lake had come alive...............and ate her mean and cruel step-father........Now go to sleep......!! Written by Barbara Taylor-Agerton |
